Charcoal masks are all the rage right now, but I have some not-so-popular feelings. Any kind of mask that you have to peel off (short of a chemical peel done professionally) rips off a lot of skin cells and can actually be damaging to your skin – especially if you have super sensitive skin like me. So when I was shopping for a new mask to add to my collection I decided to use a mask with high ratings, that wiped off, and supposedly shrunk my already hyper-sensitive pores.
Introducing Peter-Thomas-Roth Irish Moor Mud Face mask. Can purchase here. According to the bio it helps reduce fine lines & wrinkles while minimizing pores and hydrating your skin. I’ve used a few products by Mr. Roth before including some of his salicylic acid anti-acne pads which are great (but kind of abrasive) so I was excited to try this gentler product of his.
This is my excited face (prior to using the product). The steps I went through are as follows:
- Remove eye/face makeup
- Wash face with a gentle cleanser
- Pat dry
- Using fingertips rub on mask thick enough not to be able to see the skin through
- Leave for 10 minutes
- Remove by washing face with warm water & using slightly damp washcloth
Here is a picture of me mid process:
My feelings about the product are mostly positive. It was a little tingly while on (which I actually prefer because I feel as if it is working), came off easy, my skin did feel really well hydrated, and overall it seemed to “bring life” back to wrinkly areas around my eyes and T zone HOWEVER, I didn’t see a big reduction in pore size nor did it help with blackheads on my nose. Overall I give it 4/5 stars because while it was really gentle and hydrating for my sensitive skin, it did not reduce pore size or help with those pesky blackheads we all know and love. *Note: This is NOT a sponsored post. I simply love trying new products and sharing them with you all.
