So David and I have been so excited about having a child – kind of terrified we’re going to mess up terribly, but still so excited – and with us hitting the halfway mark last week, I wanted to do a look back on some of my favorite moments so far.
Step One: Take positive pregnancy test, have a complete mental breakdown in the bathroom, and stare at it for a total of 5 min expecting it to change.
Step Two: run outside (barefoot and half clothed) screaming at the top of your lungs thus terrifying your husband who is trying to put air in his tires.
Step Three: Jump on top of him, still screaming, also crying, and declare that you’re going to have a baby.
Step Four: Panic when it sets in all of the things that can go wrong and all of the things you don’t know how to do.
*Note: no one knows what they’re doing. If you’re making it up as you go – you’re doing just fine.
Probably one of the biggest joys i’ve felt in my life was staring at that stick.
Then you make a doctor’s appointment, trying to convince yourself that it is in fact NOT a hysterical pregnancy, and get to see your Gummy Bear shaped baby just chilling inside you. (Kind of looks like a gummy bear right? like all little legs & giant head and all)
When Dave and I went and saw that adorable little baby, and heard that little heartbeat, and had confirmation that our baby was 8 weeks old and totally healthy I thought I would die from happiness.
We had already booked a trip to Europe (a “Last trip before babies” that ended up being truer than we expected) so we took off around the world when I was about 10 weeks pregnant and visited: London, Paris, Amsterdam, & Rome. Then I proceeded to drive David actually insane as I insisted on taking close to 10 different announcement pictures (and then hated all of them). Finally I decided on the picture on the left which we posted with the tag “Our dreams are coming true: Baby Berg due April 2017”. Yeah…Thats Trevi Fountain. And its a bomb picture…and filter free. And with cute baby shoes.
We nailed it (LOL).
When we got back the doctor’s office had finished our bloodtest and much to my surprise (but not to Dave’s) we were having a beautiful spoiled girl. I can already tell David will be wrapped around her little finger, and I will likely not be much better. We are so happy (shopping for all the bows, dresses, and pink things we can find) and can’t wait to meet her. In London, David decided on a girl’s name so she will be…
Kensington Nicole Berg
We’re so excited to meet her! Our halfway appointment is coming up so more to come soon! She is squirming and kicking and moving like CRAZY right now. Running from the Tech trying to do the sonogram (LOL). Happy, Healthy, Moving…and arriving soon!
